Three days ago Edguy's AGE OF THE JOKER TOUR has kicked off in Malmö, Sweden. After having sold out the Zlin show in advance and Gothenburg at the doors, next Saturdays's show in Fulda, Angersbach has now sold out as well - tickets are no longer available. Having hit the charts in more than ten European countries, Edguy have also made it to a remarkable position of #25 on the official worldwide sales Top-50 charts. The band has always been a global underground phenomenon. While mainstream media widely ignored the ambitious band, Edguy kept things firmly under control themselves and set out to build up a secret society of fans around the globe. For more than a decade the band has toured the world constantly, having played well over 500 shows in more than fourty countries on four continents. And now the global work has come to fruition: Edguy‘s newest album AGE OF THE JOKER has reached the highest position of a German band in the world album charts that week.

"We're still rehearsing for the tour, we sound fantastic I think. Even the drummer. As for those chart figures: It's amazing, Nuclear Blast gave us a fortune to produce this album and it was enough to even buy all sorts of useless things on top of it. When they opened their wallets they did not know we'd come up with the best album since Back In Black. And now they even get some of their money back, fantastic! It seems like the assholes who dislike the album are just a minority (of maybe 6.9297 billion people worldwide, but that's a different story - it just proves that a lot of asses need to be kicked yet and we start the Convincing-the-world-that-Edguy-are-the-kings-of-metal-tour next Thursday in Malmö). After the amazing success of their newest album AGE OF THE JOKER (chart entries all over Europe and Japan, #3 in Germany) Germany's most successful Heavy Metal band since the 1980s - EDGUY get ready for what the fans have anticipated eagerly for months and years: The AGE OF THE JOKER TOUR. After several tours with Aerosmith and the Scorpions and stadium shows with the likes of Iron Maiden, Edguy are finally back on their own to bring the people what Edguy is known for: A full fledged, breathtaking headlining show with bad jokes, big lights, and their very own infamous stage production. On September 23rd the European leg of the tour will kick off in Malmö, Sweden. During the upcoming weeks Edguy will play Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Czech Republic and Italy.

The band has issued the following statement: "We are in the rehearsing room right now and the band is tight as always. After so many support tours it feels great to be headlining again. We are thankful for the experience to have been special guests of legends, such as the Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Ozzy or Aerosmith. But some people including ourselves may have almost forgotten, how many amazing world tours we had played on our own within the last ten years. So, it's time to grab our own explosives again, to load our own trucks, to bring our own lights and risers and the hell of a show. Support acts for the tour will be Scorpions drummer James Kottak and his band KOTTAK and for some shows Swedish Power Metal act FULLFORCE, featuring members and ex-members of Hammerfall.

Edguy have just been confirmed for the for the Forces Of Metal Festival, set to take place June 8-9, 2012 at the E3-beach in Eersel, Netherlands.

Edguy's new album AGE OF THE JOKER has just entered the Norwegian album charts at #26. After Finland (#15) and Sweden (#10) this is the third Northern 'chart country' for Edguy's AGE OF THE JOKER. This also marks Edguy's highest entry in the Norwegian album charts ever! Now the band is looking forward to the giant AGE OF THE JOKER EUROPEAN TOUR kicking off with their viking friends in Malmö, Sweden on September 23rd. Especially because in the 90s Sweden was the first country in the whole world, that offered Edguy the chance to play their first headlining tour!
